Following my interest in digital marketing, I wanted to look more into social media managing. I decided to work on planning a month's worth of social media feed. The project is based on a made up sustainable perfume brand called Huumans, inspired by the natural scent people exude. The perfume concept is an enhanced version of what skin smells like.

I started by setting an objective and setting content pillars. I’m planning the content for the launch of Huumans, so the objective is to attract attention and give a basic introduction of the brand’s values and what its about. The four content pillars dictate the type of content the brand will have on social media on a weekly or monthly basis depending on the number of posts planned for the month. These keep in mind the peaceful, honest, and natural brand image Huumans aims for. In summation:

  • Promotional: To promote the brand

  • Educational: Educate on sustainability and information indirectly related to the brand

  • Inspiration: Motivational posts and project an aspirational lifestyle

  • Entertainment: Relatable content to humanize the brand and build community

For the first month, the bulk of posts are promotional as basic information about the brand needs to be established. This is broken up by large visuals so the overall feed looks aesthetic.  People are more likely to check out the brand’s feed rather than reading each caption, so the initial layout prioritizes people being able to get a basic grasp of the brand’s products and values from a brief scan of the feed.

A typical social media calender will likely consist of 3 posts per week, using the 4 content pillars. The following is an example planned for the next month:
