As mentioned in Blog 10, I participated in the ECO/VERSE exhibition as part of the production team. Most of my tasks were before and during the event, particularly planning the exhibition content. The exhibition contents were broken up into several topics: the problem, how we got there, the outcome, and the solution. I was mainly in charge of the “How we got there” section, so I had to come up with topics for the section, delegate tasks, research, and create content for the exhibition. This included getting the materials and picking up the posters from the printer. I also briefed some participants of the exhibition (brands like Mycotech and Mori Club) and helped promote the event by reposting ECO/VERSE content on Instagram.

During the event, I had shifts in the morning and afternoon, which was usually when we saw more people. I checked on the displays before and during my shift to ensure everything was in place. I met many cool people, such as brands (Commonhers, Mori Club) and organizations (Fashion Parade). I even made a new friend after talking to some individuals who came to the exhibition.

Eventually, we had to ask people to come to the event ourselves. It was very awkward doing that, and I was ignored most of the time. We even asked for directions on how to get to the other event, which I was really confused by. However, I discovered a good way to relate to them and encourage them to come was to tell them we were students getting graded for the event. Plenty of the people we approached were young enough to relate to that and agreed to visit once they were done with the event downstairs. More people started visiting the exhibition around 3pm, attracted by free drinks and food. I was also interviewed about the event around this time, which was a cool experience. My interviewer was another student, so it didn’t feel too formal and stressful. I spent the rest of the time giving tours, explaining the event to people, and listening to feedback.

The event ended at 5pm, and we spent another hour packing and putting things away. Majority of the larger stuff was handled by the delivery service we hired, so the production teams main task was cross-checking the inventory and ensuring each item was put back in the right place on campus.
